# AI Assistants

> Let Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other AI assistants work in your organization through the Hyperstack MCP server.

Hyperstack has an **MCP server** (Model Context Protocol). Connect an AI assistant to it, and the assistant can read and manage your credentials in plain language, for example *"Issue the Cloud Architecture certificate to these five people"* or *"How many credentials did we issue last month?"*

The MCP server URL is:

```text theme={null}
https://api.thehyperstack.com/mcp
```

## How it works

* You connect the assistant once. It opens a Hyperstack page where you sign in, pick the organization and allow access.
* The assistant acts as **you**, with your roles, and never beyond them.
* Everything it does is written to the [audit logs](/docs/tutorials/advanced-setup/audit-logs).
* Hyperstack tells the assistant to check with you before it publishes, suspends, revokes or changes credentials in bulk.

| Access | The assistant can |
| - | - |
| **Read** | Read credentials, groups, designs, recipients, analytics and settings. |
| **Issue** | Issue, update, resend, suspend and revoke credentials. |
| **Manage** | Create and change groups, email templates, recipients and organization settings. |

## Connect an assistant

Go to **Settings → AI assistants**. The page shows the steps for each assistant, with the URL, command or configuration to copy.

**Claude**

1. In claude.ai or the desktop app, open **Settings → Connectors** and choose **Add custom connector**.
2. Name it **Hyperstack** and paste the server URL.
3. Sign in and allow access when Claude asks.

**Claude Code**

1. Run this command in your project:

   ```bash theme={null}
   claude mcp add --transport http hyperstack https://api.thehyperstack.com/mcp
   ```
2. Type `/mcp` in Claude Code and pick **hyperstack**.
3. Allow access in the browser tab that opens.

**ChatGPT**

1. Open **Settings → Connectors** and turn on **Developer mode** under **Advanced**.
2. Create a connector named **Hyperstack** with the server URL and OAuth.
3. Pick Hyperstack from the tools in a chat, then sign in and allow.

**Cursor**

1. Open **Cursor Settings → MCP** and choose **Add new MCP server**.
2. Paste this configuration into `mcp.json`:

   ```json theme={null}
   {
     "mcpServers": {
       "hyperstack": {
         "url": "https://api.thehyperstack.com/mcp"
       }
     }
   }
   ```
3. Click **Connect**, then sign in and allow.

**Other**

1. Add a remote server with the **Streamable HTTP** transport at the server URL.
2. The client finds the sign-in flow on its own (OAuth 2.1 with PKCE).
3. Sign in and allow access to the organization.

## Disconnect an assistant

Your connected assistants are listed under **Connected assistants**. Click **Disconnect** to end a connection at once. When a member leaves the organization, their connections end too.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Any member can connect an assistant for themselves. Only administrators can open this page and disconnect assistants. For your own apps and scripts, use an [API key](/docs/tutorials/advanced-setup/developer-settings).
