Joint Accreditation certificate requirements for jointly accredited providers
The elements every jointly accredited provider must show on a certificate of completion, the exact Joint Accreditation statement, the credit wording for each of the ten professions, and the 60-day CPE Monitor rule for pharmacists. Checked against the Joint Accreditation Documentation of Learner Credit Guidelines (March 2024) and each profession’s credit guidance.
Short answer · checked 30 October 2026
A certificate from a jointly accredited provider must show the learner’s name, the activity name and date, the amount and type of credit awarded, and the Joint Accreditation Provider Mark with the Joint Accreditation statement word for word. It must not carry the ACCME, ACPE or ANCC logos. Each learner gets the credit of their own profession, and pharmacists get no paper certificate at all: their credit goes to CPE Monitor within 60 days.

FAQ – Certificates of Completion and Awarding Contact Hours for Nursing as a Joint Accreditation Provider (revised 3 March 2024)Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians: no paper statement
Credit is recorded in CPE Monitor® under Joint Accreditation Universal Activity Number [JA0000000-0000-26-001-L01-P].
There is no certificate wording for pharmacy credit. Jointly accredited providers should not give US pharmacists or technicians a paper statement of ACPE credit; the learner prints it from their NABP e-Profile. If you do hand out a certificate, tell the learner it is not the official record. The Universal Activity Number (UAN) is created in JA-PARS and starts with your Joint Accreditation provider ID, for example “JA1234567-0000-17-001-L04-P”.

[Provider name] has been authorized by the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for [X.X] AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
For enduring materials add “Approval is valid until [Expiration date].” after the credit sentence. Separate wordings exist for other/blended, PI-CME and self-assessment formats. The AAPA credit logo goes next to the statement.

Completion of this RD/DTR profession-specific or IPCE activity awards CPEUs (1 IPCE credits = 1 CPEU). If the activity is dietetics related but not targeted to RDs or DTRs, CPEUs may be claimed which are commensurate with participation in contact hours (1 hour/60 minutes = 1 CPEU). RDs and DTRs are to select activity type 102 in their Activity Logs.
The CDR logo with this text is required on every certificate issued by a jointly accredited provider, whatever the activity’s target profession.

[Provider name] designates this [synchronous in-person / synchronous virtual / asynchronous] activity for a maximum of [X.X] COPE credit hours.
This is the marketing statement. The certificate itself must show the COPE Activity Number and COPE Course Number(s) that COPE staff assign before the activity.
Awarding COPE Credit (May 2023), Certification and MarketingAthletic trainers: BOC statement
[Provider name] (BOC AP#: [JA0000000]) is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing education to Athletic Trainers (ATs). This program is eligible for a maximum of [X.X] Category A hours/CEUs. ATs should claim only those hours actually spent in the educational program.
Goes in activity materials with the BOC-AP logo. The BOC approved-provider number is your Joint Accreditation ID.
Guidelines for Jointly Accredited Providers Regarding Awarding BOC CEUs to Athletic Trainers (2024)How credit is counted
Minutes in, credit hours out
The unit
1 credit hour = 60 minutes
Every profession under Joint Accreditation counts 60 minutes of instruction as one unit: one AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™, one ANCC contact hour, one ACPE contact hour, one AAPA credit, one CDR CPEU, one ASWB ACE credit, one APA credit, one BOC CEU. IPCE credit is calculated from the estimated time allotted for the education. Only COPE differs: 50 minutes earns 1.00 COPE hour. Breaks, meals and registration do not count.
FAQ – Certificates of Completion and Awarding Contact Hours for Nursing (2024); AMA PRA booklet (2017), p. 5; CDR, ADA, ASWB, APA, BOC, AAPA and COPE guidance documentsRounding
Joint Accreditation sets no central rule; each profession does. AMA, ANCC, CDR, BOC and AAPA round to the nearest quarter hour. ADA gives 0.25 credit per full 15 minutes. ASWB needs a full first hour, then quarter hours rounded up. APA counts quarter hours after the first hour but gives no credit for partial attendance. Award the hours a learner actually attended.
Worked example
165 minutes ÷ 60 = 2.75
165 minutes → 2.75 credit hours
165 ÷ 60, to the nearest 0.25. Nearest quarter hour, the rule most professions use. Check APA, ASWB, ADA and COPE above.

Activity
Day 0
The activity is already entered in JA-PARS and has its Universal Activity Number. The learner completes it and meets the credit-claiming rules.
Certificate
On completion
Issue the certificate once the learner has completed the activity. Joint Accreditation sets no deadline. Pharmacists get no paper certificate.
Report
Within 60 days
Upload each pharmacist’s or technician’s credit to CPE Monitor within 60 days of participation. ACCME asks for other learner credit in JA-PARS within 30 days whenever possible.
Records

Enters every CE activity in JA-PARS. JA-PARS gives the activity a Universal Activity Number (UAN) that starts with the Joint Accreditation provider ID.
Learner (pharmacist or technician)
Gives the provider their NABP e-Profile ID (4–7 digits) and date of birth (MMDD) when registering or claiming credit.
Provider
Uploads each pharmacy learner’s e-Profile ID, date of birth, UAN and date of participation to CPE Monitor within 60 days of the participation date. One record per learner per UAN; partial credit is allowed.
Provider
Reports other learners’ credit in JA-PARS with the learner’s permission, within 30 days of completion whenever possible. Physicians can then see the credit in CME Passport.
Provider
Closes activities in JA-PARS and submits the annual report on time.

- 4. Paper statements of ACPE credit are not issued. The learner prints proof from their NABP e-Profile.

Digital
Electronic certificates and badges
Electronic certificates
Joint Accreditation lists what a certificate, transcript or other document must contain, and does not say it must be paper. Any document that is “evidence of the learner’s participation and award of credit” must carry the elements above. For pharmacists the digital record in CPE Monitor is the only official one; a paper or PDF statement of ACPE credit is not valid.
Digital badges
Joint Accreditation says nothing about badges. A badge counts as evidence of credit only if it shows every required element: learner name, activity name and date, credit amount and type, and the Joint Accreditation mark and statement.

What else Joint Accreditation checks
Keep records for 6 years
Joint Accreditation publishes no single retention period. The professions do: the AMA requires the record of credit awarded to each physician to be kept for at least six years after the activity, the ACCME requires attendance records for six years from the activity date, and the APA requires proof of credit for at least three years. Six years covers all of them. Hyperstack keeps every certificate, its verification page and its audit log for the life of your account and after you cancel.
AMA PRA booklet (2017), p. 8; ACCME CME Activity and Attendance Records Retention policy; APA Standards for Awarding Credit (2024), Criterion 3One certificate, the learner’s own credit
Each learner receives the credit of their own profession. You may print one credit statement per profession, or list every profession’s credit on one statement. Only physicians may be awarded AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™; a nurse gets contact hours, a dietitian gets CPEUs, and so on.
Documentation of Learner Credit Guidelines (March 2024), introduction; AMA PRA booklet (2017), p. 8Pharmacists: CPE Monitor within 60 days
Upload each pharmacist’s or pharmacy technician’s credit to CPE Monitor within 60 days of the participation date, after the activity exists in JA-PARS. For a self-paced activity the 60 days run from the date the learner completed it; if they finish on the expiry date, from that date. Do not hand out paper statements of ACPE credit.
Guidance for Jointly Accredited Providers to Award ACPE Credit (2018), pp. 1–3; ACPE CPE Monitor FAQJointly provided activities
When you plan an activity with one or more other organizations, the statement names you and every educational partner, and your Joint Accreditation Provider Mark stays on it. The accredited provider keeps the credit records.
Accreditation Statement & Joint Accreditation Provider Marks page; AMA PRA booklet (2017), p. 8Self-paced and enduring activities
The date on the certificate is the date the learner completed the activity. Credit is based on your defensible estimate of the time an average learner needs. For AAPA credit the statement adds an expiry date.
Documentation of Learner Credit Guidelines (March 2024), Guidance a.ii; AAPA Format-Specific Guidelines (2024), p. 3Partial credit
Award credit for the time the learner actually took part. Most professions round to the nearest quarter hour. Pharmacy partial credit is allowed only to jointly accredited providers and goes to CPE Monitor as one record with the reduced amount. APA allows no partial credit for psychologists: full attendance is required.
Guidance for Jointly Accredited Providers to Award ACPE Credit (2018), p. 2; APA Standards for Awarding Credit (2024)Signatures and extra details
Joint Accreditation does not require a signature. The APA does ask for “a signature or other verification” for psychologists. You may add a provider number, address, licence number or anything else a board or certification body wants.
Documentation of Learner Credit Guidelines (March 2024), Guidance a.vi; APA Standards for Awarding Credit (2024), Criterion 2A conference with several sessions

FAQ
Joint Accreditation certificates, answered
No. One Joint Accreditation statement replaces all three. The certificate must not carry the ACCME, ACPE or ANCC logos or statements. It carries the Joint Accreditation Provider Mark and the Joint Accreditation statement instead.
The layout can be the same, but the credit line is the learner’s own profession’s credit. A physician sees AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, a nurse sees ANCC contact hours, a dietitian sees CPEUs. You may list every profession’s credit on one statement if that is simpler. Pharmacists are the exception: they get their credit in CPE Monitor, not on paper.
A record in CPE Monitor. You collect the learner’s NABP e-Profile ID and date of birth, then upload their credit with the activity’s Universal Activity Number within 60 days of participation. The learner prints a statement of credit from their NABP e-Profile. A paper statement from you is not valid proof.
Only when the activity was planned by and for a team of two or more professions. It is optional and goes alongside the Joint Accreditation statement, never instead of it. A single-profession activity gets that profession’s credit only.
Most professions count 60 minutes as one unit and round to the nearest quarter hour, so 165 minutes is 2.75. Check the exceptions: COPE counts 50 minutes as one hour, ADA gives 0.25 per full 15 minutes, ASWB rounds up after the first full hour, and APA gives no credit for partial attendance.
The activity date is required. A signature is not required by Joint Accreditation, but the APA asks for a signature or other verification on certificates for psychologists, so a signature line is the safe choice. Hyperstack sets the signature image once in the design.
Keep them for six years. The AMA requires the record of credit awarded to each physician for at least six years after the activity, and the ACCME requires attendance records for six years from the activity date. Joint Accreditation itself publishes no separate period.
Every activity must be entered in JA-PARS, and pharmacy credit must be uploaded to CPE Monitor within 60 days. For other learners, the ACCME asks you to report credit in JA-PARS within 30 days of completion whenever possible, with the learner’s permission, so physicians can see it in CME Passport.
