A debate certificate template gives a tournament committee a finished record to hand out after the last round. Schools, debating societies, universities and youth programmes run debate competitions as league nights, inter-school tournaments and championship finals, and give certificates to every speaker who took part, to the teams that broke to the elimination rounds and to the best speakers.
A good certificate for debate competition speakers names the speaker, the tournament and the stage they reached, such as the preliminary rounds, a semi-final or the grand final. Many organisers add the format, the number of rounds and the skills the speaker showed, such as case building, rebuttal and speaking to time, and ask the convenor and the chief adjudicator to sign.
The designs come as certificates in A4 and US Letter and as digital badges, ready to print for a closing ceremony or to send by email once the results are out.

FAQ
Questions, answered
Usually not on a participation certificate, because each preliminary round has its own motion. A grand final or best speaker certificate can quote the final motion in the statement, as long as the wording is short and neutral. Name the tournament and the stage reached in every case.
Yes. Give one certificate to each speaker, with their own name and the team name in the statement, so every member can keep and share it. A reserve who spoke in at least one round should get one too.
Adjudicators give each speaker a score in every round, and the totals or averages across the preliminary rounds rank the speakers. Use the same design with a different title, such as Best Speaker or Grand Finalist, and name the stage or the ranking in the statement.
Name the tournament, the format, the number of preliminary rounds and the furthest stage the speaker reached, for example quarter-final, semi-final or grand final. Add the date and the host school or society, so the record is clear to a reader who was not there.
Many tournaments thank their adjudicators with a certificate that lists the rounds they judged, and give trainee adjudicators one when they complete their first tournament. Timekeepers and student volunteers can receive a certificate of appreciation with the same design.
Yes. Most speakers do not reach the elimination rounds, and a participation certificate signed by the convenor and the chief adjudicator records the rounds they spoke in and the skills they used. Speakers who break or win an award can get a second certificate with that title.
