Design notes

The portrait version stands the flow sheet on its long side, for a folder, a portfolio or a frame. Eight speech columns cross the top with the carried argument and its red-ringed voter, the name and the event sit in a calm centre, and the foot lists the skills shown beside the format, rounds, level, issue date and credential ID. The two signatures share one base line with the QR code between them. It suits schools that print on A4 or US Letter and present certificates at an assembly.

In competitive debating, every speech answers the one before it. Teams of two or three prepare a case for one side of a motion, take turns at the lectern and face rebuttal and points of information, while the adjudicators track each argument and give their reasons when the result is announced. Clubs and schools hand out certificates at the end of a tournament or a season, to every speaker and to those who reached the finals.

Print at actual size

Choose “Actual size” or 100% in the print dialog, not “Fit to page”, so the margins and the QR code keep their size.

Use card, not paper

A matte or silk card of 200–300 gsm (about 80–110 lb cover) feels like an award and does not curl in a frame.

Frame it

A4 fits a standard 21 × 29.7 cm frame; US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame, or an 11 × 14 in frame with a mat. Hang it upright, as designed.

Mind the edges

Most home printers leave a thin white border. For a design that runs to the edge, use a print shop or your printer’s borderless setting.
