A teacher appreciation certificate template helps a school, a parent-teacher association or a tutoring centre say thank you in writing. Most are given during Teacher Appreciation Week, which in the United States falls in the first full week of May, on World Teachers' Day (5 October) or on a country's own Teachers' Day, and many schools add one at the last assembly of the year.
It goes to classroom teachers, but also to teaching assistants, librarians, coaches and tutors. A thank-you is not a contest: everyone on the staff can receive one, and the words matter more than any ranking.
The best ones are specific. Name the teacher, say who is thanking them, and mention one or two things that families noticed: the extra help before a test, the patience with a shy child. The designs come as certificates in A4 and US Letter and as digital badges that teachers can keep and share.
Wording
What to write on a teacher appreciation certificate
Use these lines as they are, or as a start for your own. Every template comes with wording you can change in the studio.
Thank-you lines for a certificate of teacher appreciation
- “With heartfelt thanks for the patience, care and belief you bring to every lesson.”
- “From your students and their families: thank you for making our classroom a place where everyone belongs.”
- “Thank you for the questions you answered, the extra time you gave and the curiosity you sparked this year.”
Teachers' Day certificate wording from the school
- “On behalf of the whole school community, thank you for everything you do for our children.”
- “Your work shapes our students long after they leave your room. Thank you.”
- “With gratitude from the governors, the staff and every family you have helped.”
Short lines for the badge or a card
- “Thank you for teaching with heart.”
- “You made a difference this year.”
- “Grateful for you, from all of us.”

FAQ
Questions, answered
In the United States the National PTA marks it in the first full week of May, with National Teacher Day on the Tuesday of that week. Other countries choose their own date: World Teachers' Day is 5 October, and India celebrates Teachers' Day on 5 September.
The principal or head teacher usually signs, often together with the chair of the parent association or a student representative. A second signature from the families' side shows that the thanks come from the whole community, not only from management.
For appreciation week, yes. The point is to thank the whole staff, so give one to every teacher and to the assistants, librarians and support staff who work with students. Keep a separate award if you also want to single out one person.
A short, concrete memory works better than general praise: the book they discovered in class, the experiment that finally worked, the day the teacher stayed late to help. Younger children can add one sentence or a drawing next to the printed copy.
Many schools pair it with a small gesture such as a staff breakfast, handwritten notes from the class or an afternoon off duty. The certificate is the part teachers keep, so give it with the personal words, not instead of them.
