Design notes

The tall page gives that story room. A navy rope grab line runs round all four edges in matching swags, whipped in red-orange at each tie, and comes up at the foot to a ring buoy seal. The name, the program and a fuller statement stand in a centred stack; the qualities recognised run down a single column like a line paid out, and the record of act, level, date of issue and credential ID sits in a two-by-two grid. A signature and a QR code flank the buoy. Portrait suits a certificate folder, a notice board or a family's own frame at home.

About

Life Saving Award Template, Lifebuoy Grab Line Portrait

Some rescues happen far from any pool: a choking diner, a driver pulled from a car, a collapse in a school corridor where a bystander began chest compressions. A lifesaving award is how a lifesaving club, a fire service, an employer or a community group thanks that person in public, usually at an awards evening or an assembly, with the story told in a sentence or two.

Wording on the template“In recognition of courageous action that saved a human life. When an emergency came without warning, the recipient acted at once, with no thought for their own safety, and gave care until help arrived. Their courage and presence of mind are recorded here with lasting gratitude.”

Subject: name, your life saving award is ready

Dear name,

What you did that day gave someone a future, and we want you to know how much it means to all of us. Your quick thinking and courage are now on record.

Your life saving award is ready. Open it to read your citation, download a copy to print and frame, or share it on LinkedIn so the people around you can see what you did.

With our deepest thanks.

Hyperstack fills in each person’s name and link when it sends.

Post for the recipient to share

I am humbled to receive a life saving award this week. On the day I only did what my first aid training told me to do, and I am grateful the ambulance crew arrived when they did. Thank you to everyone who has checked in since. If you have been putting off a CPR course, please book one. #LifeSavingAward #FirstAid

Printing

Printing it well

Print at actual size

Choose “Actual size” or 100% in the print dialog, not “Fit to page”, so the margins and the QR code keep their size.

Use card, not paper

A matte or silk card of 200–300 gsm (about 80–110 lb cover) feels like an award and does not curl in a frame.

Frame it

A4 fits a standard 21 × 29.7 cm frame; US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame, or an 11 × 14 in frame with a mat. Hang it upright, as designed.

Mind the edges

Most home printers leave a thin white border. For a design that runs to the edge, use a print shop or your printer’s borderless setting.

Certificate or badge?

Send both. They do different jobs.

Certificate

  • A full record: name, statement, skills, dates and signatures
  • Printed and framed, or kept as a PDF
  • Opens to a page anyone can verify

Digital badge

  • A small image people put on LinkedIn and in email signatures
  • Carries the verified details inside it (Open Badges 2.0)
  • One click shows who earned it and who issued it
