Design notes

This landscape layout keeps the record in one left column under a fine hairline marked "100% · The call of duty", which ends at a goal ring on the right where an amber lap carries on beyond the mark. It holds the recipient's name, the award title, a short citation, four achievements, the category and how the winner was selected, the issue date, the credential ID, two signatures with their roles and a QR code for verification. A clean, modern certificate for HR and people teams that want it to look at home on an office wall.

About

Above and Beyond Certificate Template, Goal Ring Landscape

Many organisations run an above and beyond programme next to their core values. Colleagues nominate someone who went past their job description, a panel or a manager picks the winners, and the award is handed out at a town hall or a quarterly ceremony. The certificate is the lasting record of that moment, so it should say what the person actually did, not only who they are.

Wording on the template“For going above and beyond the call of duty: for the extra effort, care and initiative that went far past what the role asks, and made a lasting difference to colleagues and to the people we serve.”

Subject: name, you went above and beyond, and we noticed

Hi name,

What you did went well past what your role asks, and it made a real difference to the people around you. Your colleagues saw it, and we wanted to say thank you properly.

Your Above and Beyond Award is ready. Open it to see the citation, download a copy to print, or add the badge to your LinkedIn profile so your network can see it too.

With thanks and congratulations from all of us.

Post for the recipient to share

I am proud to share that I received an Above and Beyond Award this week. The project was hard, and I could not have done it without a great team around me, so this award is theirs too. Thank you to the colleagues who nominated me and to my manager for the trust. #EmployeeRecognition #AboveAndBeyond

Printing

Printing it well

Print at actual size

Choose “Actual size” or 100% in the print dialog, not “Fit to page”, so the margins and the QR code keep their size.

Use card, not paper

A matte or silk card of 200–300 gsm (about 80–110 lb cover) feels like an award and does not curl in a frame.

Frame it

A4 fits a standard 21 × 29.7 cm frame; US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame, or an 11 × 14 in frame with a mat. Hang it on its side, as designed.

Mind the edges

Most home printers leave a thin white border. For a design that runs to the edge, use a print shop or your printer’s borderless setting.

Certificate or badge?

Send both. They do different jobs.

Certificate

  • A full record: name, statement, skills, dates and signatures
  • Printed and framed, or kept as a PDF
  • Opens to a page anyone can verify

Digital badge

  • A small image people put on LinkedIn and in email signatures
  • Carries the verified details inside it (Open Badges 2.0)
  • One click shows who earned it and who issued it
