Design notes

This landscape page turns that thanks into one picture. A brick-red umbrella spans the top, slate rain falls only in the margins, and the whole record sits in the dry space below: logo and organisation, the title, the manager's name in a soft serif, the program, a two-line statement, the qualities in a row, then the occasion, nominator, issue date and credential ID. The umbrella's handle stands between two sign-offs from the team, with the QR code to its right. It suits a wide office frame.

National Boss's Day falls on 16 October in the US, and when that date lands on a weekend most offices mark it on the nearest working day. It is one of the few awards that comes from below: the people a manager leads decide to say thank you, usually through HR or one team member who plans the surprise. Use card, not paper

A matte or silk card of 200–300 gsm (about 80–110 lb cover) feels like an award and does not curl in a frame.

Frame it

A4 fits a standard 21 × 29.7 cm frame; US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame, or an 11 × 14 in frame with a mat. Hang it on its side, as designed.

Mind the edges

Most home printers leave a thin white border. For a design that runs to the edge, use a print shop or your printer’s borderless setting.
