Design notes

This landscape page is laid out like the winning entry's scorecard. A ruled box in the header holds the entry number (the credential ID) and the date judged. First Place is printed in brick red over the event, and the cook's name stands on a full-width line. On the left sit the judges' citation and the category, placing and judging details; on the right, Flavor, Aroma, Texture, Heat balance and Appearance are scored with every 10 circled in red pen, closed by a stamped PERFECT. A Dutch oven seal, two judges' signatures and the QR code finish the foot.

About

Cook-Off Certificate Template, Judges' Scorecard Landscape

At most chili cook-offs the bowls reach the table by number only, so the judges taste blind and score each entry on a printed card for things like aroma, texture, taste and heat. When the cards are totalled, the organisers name a winner, and this is the certificate they hand over: at a church supper, an office competition, a fire department fundraiser or a county fair.

Wording on the template“Awarded first place by a blind-tasting panel of judges for a bowl that scored top marks on every card: deep flavor, a rich aroma, a velvet texture and heat in perfect balance.”

Subject: name, you won the cook-off: your certificate is ready

Hi name,

Congratulations! The judges have added up the scorecards, and your entry came out on top. Thank you for cooking, for sharing your recipe with us, and for making the day such a tasty one.

Your winner's certificate is ready. Open it to see your award, download a copy to print for the kitchen, or share it with friends and family who tasted along.

See you at the next cook-off, and good luck defending the title.

Post for the recipient to share

Our team chili cook-off had more serious recipes than I expected, and somehow my bowl took first place with the judges. My grandmother's recipe finally gets the recognition it deserves. Thank you to the judges, the organisers and everyone who came to taste. Already planning next year's batch. #ChiliCookOff #CookOff

Printing

Printing it well

Print at actual size

Choose “Actual size” or 100% in the print dialog, not “Fit to page”, so the margins and the QR code keep their size.

Use card, not paper

A matte or silk card of 200–300 gsm (about 80–110 lb cover) feels like an award and does not curl in a frame.

Frame it

A4 fits a standard 21 × 29.7 cm frame; US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame, or an 11 × 14 in frame with a mat. Hang it on its side, as designed.

Mind the edges

Most home printers leave a thin white border. For a design that runs to the edge, use a print shop or your printer’s borderless setting.
