Design notes

Everything here sits on one centre line. The organisation and a ruled ENTRY No. / JUDGED box head the page, then First Place in red, the event, and the entrant's name over a printed line. A short citation leads to three ruled cells for category, placing and judging. The scorecard runs the full width through the middle: five criteria scored 1 to 10, each 10 circled by the judge's red pen, and a PERFECT total. The head judge and the event organiser sign at the foot, beside a stamped Dutch oven seal and the QR code.

About

Cook-Off Certificate Template, Judges' Scorecard Portrait

A cooking contest prize often ends up pinned to a kitchen corkboard, framed beside a restaurant pass or slipped into a recipe binder, and a tall page fits all three. Community groups, schools, employers and fair committees award it to the cook whose entry earned the highest blind-tasting score, whether the contest was chili, barbecue or a bake-off.

Wording on the template“Awarded first place by a blind-tasting panel of judges for a bowl that scored top marks on every card: deep flavor, a rich aroma, a velvet texture and heat in perfect balance.”

Subject: name, you won the cook-off: your certificate is ready

Hi name,

Congratulations! The judges have added up the scorecards, and your entry came out on top. Thank you for cooking, for sharing your recipe with us, and for making the day such a tasty one.

Your winner's certificate is ready. Open it to see your award, download a copy to print for the kitchen, or share it with friends and family who tasted along.

See you at the next cook-off, and good luck defending the title.

Post for the recipient to share

Our team chili cook-off had more serious recipes than I expected, and somehow my bowl took first place with the judges. My grandmother's recipe finally gets the recognition it deserves. Thank you to the judges, the organisers and everyone who came to taste. Already planning next year's batch. #ChiliCookOff #CookOff

Printing

Printing it well

Print at actual size

Choose “Actual size” or 100% in the print dialog, not “Fit to page”, so the margins and the QR code keep their size.

Use card, not paper

A matte or silk card of 200–300 gsm (about 80–110 lb cover) feels like an award and does not curl in a frame.

Frame it

A4 fits a standard 21 × 29.7 cm frame; US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame, or an 11 × 14 in frame with a mat. Hang it upright, as designed.

Mind the edges

Most home printers leave a thin white border. For a design that runs to the edge, use a print shop or your printer’s borderless setting.
