Design notes

This portrait certificate is laid out like a tasting sheet and a wine list. The title and the name in script lead at the top. Below them, five rows run down the page, each with a glass seen from above, the module name in a fine serif, a hairline and a bin number at the right. The wines go from pale lemon at the top to garnet at the foot. A foot row holds two signatures and a QR code with the credential ID. Gold double rules on cream paper give it a calm, formal look for framing.

Wine tasting courses teach people to judge colour, aroma and structure, and to pair wine with food. Sommelier academies, wine merchants, vineyards and restaurant teams hand out a certificate when a student has completed the course and the closing blind tasting, often at the end of a term or an evening class.

Print at actual size

Choose “Actual size” or 100% in the print dialog, not “Fit to page”, so the margins and the QR code keep their size.

Use card, not paper

A matte or silk card of 200–300 gsm (about 80–110 lb cover) feels like an award and does not curl in a frame.

Frame it

A4 fits a standard 21 × 29.7 cm frame; US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame, or an 11 × 14 in frame with a mat. Hang it upright, as designed.

Mind the edges

Most home printers leave a thin white border. For a design that runs to the edge, use a print shop or your printer’s borderless setting.
