Design notes

The portrait format hangs like a scroll. The bass is printed nose up down the right third of the page, and the left column reads from top to bottom: the logo and organisation, CHAMPION ANGLER in spaced capitals, the name in a brush script, the event and statement, the catch record with weight and length, the achievements and two signatures. The red seal, the date, the certificate number and the QR code sit under the tail. It fits a frame on a clubhouse wall or a tackle-shop counter.

About

Fishing Award Certificate Template, Gyotaku Hanging Scroll

Anglers have kept records of a great catch for centuries, and gyotaku began in Japan as exactly that: a fisherman inked his best fish, pressed paper onto it and wrote the species, weight and date beside the print. A champion angler certificate does the same job for a modern derby or club season, naming who landed the heaviest fish and how it was weighed and released.

Wording on the template“Weighed in before the tournament judges, this fish topped the leaderboard for single-fish weight. Every catch was handled under catch-and-release rules and returned to the water alive.”

Subject: name, your fishing tournament award is here

Hi name,

Congratulations on your catch. The scales do not lie, and your result at the weigh-in earned you a place on this year's leaderboard.

Your award certificate is ready with the details of your catch. Open it to see it, download a copy to print for the wall, or share it on social media so your fishing friends know who to beat next time.

Tight lines, and we hope to see you on the water again soon.

Hyperstack fills in each person’s name and link when it sends.

Post for the recipient to share

Away from the desk this weekend I took first place at our club's bass tournament, with a 6.4 lb largemouth that took twenty minutes of patience and one lucky cast. Every fish went back into the lake alive. Thanks to the organisers and the weigh-in crew for a great day on the water. #Fishing #BassFishing

Printing

Printing it well

Print at actual size

Choose “Actual size” or 100% in the print dialog, not “Fit to page”, so the margins and the QR code keep their size.

Use card, not paper

A matte or silk card of 200–300 gsm (about 80–110 lb cover) feels like an award and does not curl in a frame.

Frame it

A4 fits a standard 21 × 29.7 cm frame; US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame, or an 11 × 14 in frame with a mat. Hang it upright, as designed.

Mind the edges

Most home printers leave a thin white border. For a design that runs to the edge, use a print shop or your printer’s borderless setting.

Certificate or badge?

Send both. They do different jobs.
